Fireworks
Every August before the start of the new school year hundreds even thousands of people gather on a dusty strip of pavement devoid of shade to stare up at the sky and wait for the show to begin. Fried food carts and balloon vendors line the runway overcharging working class families for oily french fries and bootlegged Sponge Bob balloons. At dusk a singe firework explodes high in the sky to signal the start of the show. A spectacle of ornate explosions set to pop music. Thick white smoke hovers above the small town airport signaling the end of summer.
