Lake Atitlan

$4,000.00 (Available)

58" x 39" Oil & wax painting.

A commmision for friends who lived in Guatemala for some time. This is one of three active volcanoes that surround lake Atitlan. In preparation for making this landscape I studied Japanese woodblock prints of volcanoes. I was especially drawn to the way they would depict cloud formations almost with an eerie sense of anticipation. One of the challenges was creating a vibrant color palette that doesn’t compete with or wash out the finer line work.
